Beautiful traditional sailing ship off the coast of Mallorca

Sailing Yacht in the harbour of Palma

This traditional sailing ship takes you on a journey through time without sacrificing comfort. Every number, every meter of the boat, every sail tells the story of a centuries-old sailing boat that still sails the seas with pride today. This is their trademark: the perfect balance between maritime tradition and adaptation to the present. Because their true size has more to do than just their dimensions.

The sailing ship was launched on April 15, 1841. Today, almost two centuries later, it still sails proudly across the sea and is the oldest ship in the Spanish fleet still in operation. Among the treasures kept on board, the sailing patent issued in Ibiza in 1891 occupies a special place. This document, signed by María Cristina, regent during the minority of Alfonso XIII, not only attests to the age of the ship, but also transports us to a time when administrative language was still characterized by the smell of the sea. The poetic and maritime text is a jewel that inspires respect and admiration. The elders of Ibiza and Formentera assure us that this sailing ship was originally a two-masted “llaut” with felucca rigging. Over time, her silhouette has changed to adapt to new uses and requirements, without ever losing the essence of her seafaring nature. Getting on board today means touching history with your hands. It means hearing the creaking of wood that has traveled thousands of routes and being touched by the soul of a sailboat that has experienced more than many a village.

Starting port: Palma

Palma de Mallorca is the maritime heart of the Balearic Islands and one of the most attractive coastal cities in the Mediterranean. The island’s capital combines historical flair, modern infrastructure and first-class nautical facilities. The Port de Palma stretches directly in front of the old town and offers an impressive backdrop with a view of La Seu Cathedral – ideal for large yachts and superyachts.

To the west lies the exclusive Club de Mar, known for its privacy, upscale service and international owners. Also centrally located is Marina Port de Mallorca, which is particularly popular with sailors and impresses with its proximity to restaurants, boutiques and the city centre.

To the east of the city, Portixol Molinar scores with an authentic ambience, smaller berths and a lively waterfront promenade. The marinas of Palma de Mallorca stand for diversity, quality and ideal conditions all year round – a clear locational advantage for yacht owners and investors alike.
